Is My Air Fryer Dishwasher Safe?

Is My Air Fryer Dishwasher Safe

My air fryer is dishwasher safe, is it not? My answer to this question causes some confusion sometimes, and I’m asked it occasionally. The issue is whether or not something can be washed in the dishwasher. It’s common for all manufacturers to declare their air fryers dishwasher-safe, such as Philips, Ninja, Power, Cosori, Dash, etc.

Before we proceed, let me clarify that when the manufacturers refer to the whole air fryer unit, they are not referring to the whole machine. Due to the fact that it is an electrical device, that would be crazy.

What Aspect of the Air Fryer is Dishwasher Safe?

What Aspect of the Air Fryer is Dishwasher Safe

In order to be clear, the main body of the air fryer cannot be washed in the dishwasher. Unlike most appliances, your air fryer only has removable parts that can go in the dishwasher. There are basically two parts to the air fryer: the air fryer basket and the pull-out tray.

Besides accessories, you can include anything you like. As far as dishwasher safety goes, they are considered safe.

Air fryer baskets can be cleaned in dishwashers. The dish can easily be placed with the rest of the dishes in your dishwasher. You can do it easily and conveniently. It is really a question of whether this is something you should do.

To clean your dishes, your dishwasher typically uses very hot water. The way they do it is how they do it. There can be a dramatic impact on the air fryer basket’s lifespan if you do this.

The surfaces are usually plated with non-stick materials like Teflon or similar. They are made more efficient and less likely to stick to food by doing this. Over time, high water temperatures and prolonged usage erode this coating, resulting in non-stick coating loss in your air fryer basket.

There is a possibility that it will start to flake off, in which case it is no longer safe to use. As soon as non-stick cookware starts flaking, it becomes toxic. In order to keep my air fryer basket clean, I do not use my dishwasher. Having the capability does not obligate you to take action.

It is harder for me to do this, but in the end I justify it by the fact that it extends the life of my air fryer basket.

How Should I Clean my Air Fryer Without a Dishwasher?

Your sink is the answer. Cleaning the air fryer basket in this manner is the safest method. Cleaning can be done with a sponge and mildly hot water. You might need to use some detergent if there is some stubborn dirt.

Taking care of your air fryer basket is both simple and effective. Non-stick cookware should undergo the same treatment, especially if it is expensive and you want to keep it for as long as possible.

The grease on it can be scrubbed off with a paste made of bicarbonate of soda if it is particularly stubborn or baked on. In addition to freshening up the inner part of the fryer, lemons can also be used. Before washing it, sprinkle some lemon juice in the bottom and allow it to sit for 30 minutes.

Verdict

There is no shortage of manufacturers who will tell you that their air fryers are dishwasher safe. You will be told how convenient they are by everyone you know. It’s the same for both of them.

Although you can do something, that does not mean you should. As I mentioned above, I recommend hand washing them for all the reasons listed above. As a buyer, you have the choice between convenience and longevity or a product that you can keep in good shape for many years.
