The easiest and most delicious gluten-free pizza roll recipe ever. This healthier version of an after-school treat I craved constantly growing up is a nostalgic treat I used to crave 24/7. These rolls are too delicious to be true, you will love them.

A gluten free sandwich bread roll, pizza sauce, cheese (vegan or regular), and any pizza toppings you like are used to make these pizza rolls! Besides being kid-friendly, they are also a good game-day snack or appetiser. There is nothing we love more!

Using the air fryer makes making these pizza rolls super easy, since it cooks them fast and makes them perfectly crisp. As soon as they are done, you will have delicious crisp air fryer pizza rolls with melty cheese and sauce in the center.

Ingredients

  • Gluten Free Flour: I find that King Arthur Measure-for-Measure works best.
  • Unsalted Butter: Flaky dough relies on cold ingredients! Ensure that the butter is chilled before using.
  • Greek Yogurt: Low fat Greek yogurt provides a moist and rich dough texture. Yogurt reduces excess fat and butter, resulting in a higher protein dough.
  • Sugar: White sugar that is granulated should be used.
  • Marinara Sauce: The Homemade Marinara Sauce I use in these pizza rolls is fresh every time. It is also possible to use jarred sauce from the store.
  • Mozzarella Cheese: Fill pizza rolls with the slices. Also, cheddar or provolone would work well.
  • Egg Wash: Egg wash is made by mixing an egg with water. Light egg washes help pizza rolls become glossy and golden.
  • Italian Seasoning: Spread over top and sprinkle with salt.
  • Salt

How to Make Gluten-Free Pizza Rolls in the Air Fryer

It only takes a few minutes to prepare the dough for these gluten free pizza rolls, then chill it for a few hours. Getting started on some cheesy, zesty pizza rolls takes a few ingredients:

The pizza dough should be made by whisking together the dry ingredients, then adding the cold butter gradually.

Ingredients Pizza Rolls

Stir in the Greek yogurt once the crumble has reached a coarse consistency. You’ll need to form the dough into a ball and wrap it tightly in plastic wrap before putting it in the fridge for an hour.

Stir Dough Pizza Rolls

Prepare your work surface by flouring once the dough has chilled. The dough should be rolled into a thin rectangle that is long and narrow. Make eight small rectangles from the dough using a knife.

Roll Dough in Bowl

Each dough rectangle should have a teaspoon of marinara on it, as well as a slice or two of mozzarella.

Slice of Mozzarella

Once the filling is inside, roll the dough up gently and crimp the ends closed tightly with a fork. The tops of the pizza rolls should be cut with a knife to create small air vents to prevent them from burst in the air fryer.

Filling Pizza Rolls

The pizza rolls need to be cooked for about 12 minutes at 380°F in the air fryer. It depends on the size and thickness of your pizza rolls and the air fryer, so be sure to watch the timing closely.

Serve crispy pizza rolls with your favorite dipping sauces once they’re golden and crispy!

Do these bake well in the oven?

That’s right! They may either be baked at 160C/320F for 12-15 minutes or cooked in the air fryer as directed.

Is there a specific time for air-frying pizza rolls?

My usual length of time is between 12 and 15 minutes. Nevertheless, check after 12 minutes and continue cooking until lightly golden.

Are these vegan-friendly?

That’s for sure. The mozzarella can be replaced with grated dairy-free cheese that melts in the oven.

What is the best type of bread to use?

This is where sliced sandwich bread comes into play! There is no better dough replacement than this. As an alternative to regular whole meal sandwich bread, use a gluten-free option if needed.

Are Gluten Free Air Fryer Pizza Rolls easy to store?

  • Refrigerator: You can keep leftovers in the fridge for up to three or four days if you store them airtight.
  • Freezer: Although I have not frozen these, I think they would be safe to freeze. It is recommended to store in snaplock or freezer safe bags for up to 3 months. Place frozen meat in the fridge overnight or microwave it to defrost.

Prep Time 1 hour 20 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Total Time 1 hour 35 minutes

Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 1 cup gluten free flour
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup low fat Greek yogurt + 1 tbsp

For the Egg Wash

  • 1 egg whisked
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp water

For the Filling

  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 4 oz. mozzarella cheese sliced

Instructions

  • Flour, salt, and sugar should be mixed together in a mixer with a whisk attachment. To combine, whisk together.
  • Add in cold butter, one tablespoon at a time, by changing your attachment to a flat beater. Crush the mixture into a coarse crumble.
  • Once you have added the greek yogurt, mix it again until it is fully incorporated.
  • Knead the dough until it forms a smooth ball on a flat surface. After wrapping your dough in plastic wrap, place it in the refrigerator for an hour to rest.
  • Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick, 15 inches long, and 6 inches wide on a floured surface.
  • Slice the mozzarella and add 1 teaspoon marinara to each rectangle of dough.
  • Seal the edges of the pizza rolls by rolling them and pressing down with a fork. Use a sharp knife to create a few vent cuts on the top of the pizza rolls.
  • The yolk of one egg should be whisked with water in a small bowl. Each pizza roll should be washed with egg wash using a brush. Adding Italian seasoning will enhance the flavor.
  • Turn your air fryer on to 380°. During the cooking process, place pizza rolls in the basket and bake for 12-15 minutes.
  • Put the chicken in a bowl and serve with your favorite dipping sauce!

Notes

  • A sprinkle of water will help prevent the dough from cracking when you roll it out.
  • Make sure your rolls are not overstuffed or overseasoned. There will be a hard time rolling them and the sauce will leak.
  • Your air fryer basket's size may require you to cook the roll in batches.
